I'm new to the biking world and have always grown up just riding wal-mart bikes around my house. I'd like to get a lady's bike that I can ride on the road with friends but that will also work on gravel trails and non paved terrain. The majority of my riding would probably be off road, but nothing too extreme.
I'd like to stay under $500 but get a nicer bike than what I've owned in the past. Are there options in buying a used bike that would allow me to get a better bike than one I could afford new? Also does the size matter? I'm about 5' 5"...?
