For a 500mTT/kilo and 3000/4000m pursuit ...

After the start laps what are the average cadence ranges for these events?

I'm guessing it will be over 100 rpm+ and if so, why doesn't anyone ever go lower?

With Road Time-Trials there seems to be a big variance of cadence of what people use, but this doesn't seem to happen on the track.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or insights!

That is a good question.

I have only raced indoor velodromes, back when still young and pretty.

Back then I use to top out around 130, and that worked for me, some riders higher, up to 150. Riders nowadays seem to aim a little lower.

Never given much thought to why?

No brakes and only one gear to do everything.
No hills other than going out on the embankment.
No head or cross wind.
And, you don't have 100 miles in your legs when it comes to the sprint.
The sprints are also shorter and below sprinting you have a lot of momentum going around the track.

I've never had a chance to be dissipating any of these events but I definitely would love to. They seem like such a community type of thing and I guess that's what really attracts me to the idea of these events. I really love to participate in things that are going on with the people. One day I'll be able to participate in one of these events and not have to work
