    I am considering this KitchenAid attachment as a Christmas gift for my
    father. He only has the smaller KitchenAid mixer and he is against
    excessive kitchen clutter - i.e., I would rather NOT buy a whole ice cream
    making machine.

    Does it work as well as advertised on Amazon and Cooks.com? Since it is
    roughly $80, is it better than a stand-alone maker? I am leery when the
    reviews on Amazon seem almost too good to be true.
