As the weather gets colder, I am considering my next option... I currently have a pair of bib-shorts and jersey. These are perfect for riding in warmer weather. Obviously, I could for out another $200 - $300 some dollars to pick up a jacket or I could wear leg/arm warmers, or I could use what I already have... I have Pearl Izumi tights that I usually use over my shorts...... Will I damage my team shorts if I wear them over these tights? 😕

I occasionally wear non-padded tights over my bib shorts, no problem. Leg warmers is another good option.
FWIW you can get pretty good cycling jackets for much less than 200-300 bucks, try the PI vagabond for one. Vented back, windproof arms/front, ~100 bucks.

I'm pretty sure wearing tights over shorts is fine. A better solution is to wear knee warmers or leg warmers instead. Here in Southern California, I prefer a combination of arm warmers and leg warmers with a Defeet undershirt. A good vest is another important part. I prefer these over jackets because I get hot pretty quickly.

Leg warmers and LS base layer with a LS jersey is all you need in SO CAL. Well warmer gloves and shoe covers sometimes.
