  1. I think I may have plantar fasciitis. My right heel hurts when I wake up and gradually gets better
during the day. This started Sunday morning. How do I treat this and what about running? Would I
still be able to run provided the pain is not present? Thanks. Kristine

  2. Kristine,

If it is still painful after 4 days stop running and see an orthopedic surgeon who either runs or is
a sports medicine specialist ASAP before you do any more damage. It may be as simple as
off-the-shelf shoe inserts or you may have a stress fracture of the heel. Don't try to
self-diagnose. If you have a serious problem and it goes untreated you may needlessly prolong your
rehab. I have had foot problems for 30 years and I have learned that untreated they can really crimp
    your running.

    Good luck,
