"A particular problem has been noted with ginseng cultivation. Fungicide materials are used at
times, because the ginseng plant is highly susceptible to fungal rot, especially during its early
growth period. Care is taken to avoid applying any chemicals close to time of harvest so that
natural processes (e.g., heavy rains) have time to eliminate most of the fungicides prior to
harvesting. However, residues can remain. Most of the ginseng samples with fungicide residues
(mainly quintozene) have been from Korea."
