'Smells like teen spirit' - the late Kurt Cobain 'You smell that? Do you smell that?' 'I love the smell of napalm in the morning.' 'The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like - victory.' -Robert Duvall; Apocalypse Now Wednesday and Thursday: each day dawned below freezing but were beautifully balmy. As the sun rose to it's zenith - or as close as it gets in these lattitudes. The sheets of ice on the ground at work warm, melt and turn liquid, creating rivulets across the truck pads. True, melting snow leaves a salt/sand residue of crud over everything - but I smell it - It smells like spring. Granted we're sure to get at least three good wallops of snow - and I never have trusted that mangy little groundhog. But I'm ready for some warm weather biking NOW.
