Can anyone give me some advise on which (racing)saddle to buy?
After 4 hours of cycling my current saddle becomes a true pain in the ass. Currently I use a San Marco Base (2004). Is a more expensive saddle better? For example a Selle Italia Flite (TT)?

Thanx, bert
Saddles are a very personal thing. To recommend one would be pointless. I find my San Marco ASPide to be sublime comfort whereas you may find it to be absolute misery. Regardless of what anyone may recommend, you won't really know until you take it for a long ride. Good luck.
I just bought the Selle Italia SLK. I've only had about 5 hours of saddle time, but so far it seems more comfortable than my Selle Italia Tri Matic. My only problem with it is that I think the rails are a bit wider than my last saddle, so when it attaches to the post I have to squish them together a bit. As a result, it decreases the amount of split in the seat. I am going to see if I can bend them out a bit to correct it. Overall I think it is a good seat and it only weighs 185 grams.
I went through 5 or 6 different saddles before I found one that remains comfortable and non-injuring (!) on rides of over 4 hours.
I'm now using a Fizik Alliante, but as 1 x 1 says above, saddles are a personal thing since all butts are not created equal. I can say that several riders in my club have also changed to the Alliante recently and all seem to be pleased with the improved comfort level.
