    most people use cryogenics for a thermal martensitic phase transition in
    what would otherwise be a ferritic steel. the only martensitic

    Considering that regular old 300-series stainless spokes don't give me
    any trouble even in 15-16ga, I doubt there would be much to gain in
    using a material with higher tensile properties. I doubt that
    significantly thinner spokes would be a practical option even if a
    much stronger steel were used. Hmmm, perhaps maraging steel
    spokes....
