Yes, The front sprockets will not be a problem. The narrower 10s chain may cause you to have to slightly overshift on the front once in a while to get quick changes, but that's the only potential downside. -- Typoes are a feature, not a bug. You haven't found that a narrower chain is necessary for most 9-speed chains? The PC-89R is about as narrow as the Wip10, so technically a 9-speed chain could work. -- Phil, Squid-in-Training

The OP mentioned swapping the chain, and I simply missed listing it. OTOH, given that one of the guys I've talked to about this recently swapped up to a 10s setup while retaining his old 9s chain with no reported problems, it appears that there are some 9s chains that will indeed work on a 10s Shimano cassette. Others have reported that it didn't work, so YMMV is definitely a factor. Adding a 10s chain to the necessities list is a safe bet; it may be required, and the worst that will happen is that a backup of an expendable item will be left over if the existing 9s chain works. -- Typoes are a feature, not a bug.
