Thanks, Om, I got some Zantac 150; then I went back to BJ's and got some
generic Ranitidine 75's. They help a lot. But I am on them on a regular
    basis. 2 a day, 1 of 150, and 1 of 75.
I don't eat nearly like sw does. That must be in addition to the very-good
    food he prepares.
    I just had lunch/dinner combination:
Costco's lobster bisque, basmati rice, moong dal, and left-over pan-fried
asparagus with asafaoetida and a homemade garam masala.
But before I started eating, I had the Ranitidine 75 and 2 Tablespoons of
organic apple vinegar (sold with the mother). No jokes, please.
I need a nap, but I'm not giving in!

    Ranitidine is my friend... ;-)
Especially before or right after anything really spicy or with tomatoes.

Also helps prevent stomach upset from using Ibuprofen.

Copy the IP address - in Patches' case it is : 216.8.140.73

Go to http://www.samspade.org and paste it into the "do stuff" box, and
hit submit. 🙂 This will tell you the ISP and where the server is
located. It will also usually tell you where to send abuse reports.

The first two "victims" returned this message on samspade:

    Aborting ... (oh, well)

OK, victim #1 was "rox formerly rmg"... I picked you because you were
the first post after this thread. It was that simple.

Hey, Rox! Are you really in SF? I think I spoke with you in the chat
channel sometime last year and I think I remember that you really ARE
here in the city. Let's meet sometime soon if you really are!

    🙂
Unmunge my address and email me directly, if you're interested.

Those are usually forged IP addresses. Some remailers and newsreaders
generate fake ones - or allow the user to.

It's possible her server is there, and she's someplace else - like
    Redding or Carmichael something.

Maybe she is accessing through home and work or home and their
business. That would probably show different IP addresses and maybe
different internet providers in the same geographic area.

Here's what I use, in case you're interested.
    Grabit - google it.
    It's a free download.
Then you can put alt+prt scr and whatever you grab that is on your desktop
or screen goes onto your desktop as a file which you can do anything you
    like with it.

I use a program called "Visual Route", which traces the packets
across the network and draws a map of each city it passes through.
They maintaina database of which IP's map to shich locations (in
a nutshell, I'll spare you the technical details). It knows what
city an IP address is in, rather than just relying on the WHOIS
    info.

If you download the Sam Spade software locally, it works much
better than the website. 99.5% of the IP's you see in newsgroups
(and 95% in email) should be tracable to a WHOIS entry. Using the
right IP fromt he email is the trick.

Visual route only knows part of it. In the example I posted I neglected
to post the phone number. You can go to
    http://www.telcodata.us/telcodata/telco

And plug in 519 258 for NPA NXX. The confirm that it is in Windsor,
    Ontario.

It's very difficult to trace an IP address in certain areas. For
example, mine only traces as far as Cox RI. But not down to the city.

    So ymmv.
