(1) I disagree. Let's keep in mind that ASO is French and part of the
French media group.

(2) Also, the french do not have a very good track record of doing what is
best, for example:

- It is the French who changed the numbers on the form reporting the
results for Landis, WHICH IS AN EXTREMELY BAD PROCEDURAL NO NO
- Previously, Le Monde ( a French newspaper ) tried to pin one on
Armstrong by Le Monde's "talking it up". Le Monde later recanted saying
they had no evidence to support what they were saying about Armstrong.
- France's Festina / EPO team
- and so on with the french

(3) I think F1 and Baseball got it right a long time ago. Soccer has got
things managed well, sans fanatical fans who can cause problems. NASCAR got
a little lucky with some decisions early on, then figured it out. The NFL
and NBA were a bit late to the game but are now committed to proving there's
nothing that a lot of TV dollars cannot fix. ( also, Baseball still proving
there's nothing that a lot of TV dollars cannot fix )
Point being made with #3:
- advertising dollars run the show, if you can advertise someone's
products very well, then you get to play, otherwise, you get to watch
- the compaies paying for the advertising rightfully expect the very
best bang for their money spent
- petty pissing matching in cycling are bad for cycling and are also
bad for advertisers.
- ASO is in the center of one of cycling's stupidest of storms.

Sandy, any thoughts?
