Not sure where to rent, but I'll cross-post to uk.rec.cycling where
you'll get a better response.

There is a hire place in Charminster, Bournemouth called "on yer Bike"
which several people I know have used without problems.
www.onyerbike.co.uk is their website I think...

Try asking for a more specific area. Plenty of places will hire bikes,
but I couldn't tell you what kind of terms they'd offer. For example,
both the bike shops here in Tavistock have bikes for hire.

They don't seem to carry the kind of bike I mentioned. Just hybrids
and cruiser type bikes.

Thanks but they don't seem to have the kind of bike I referred to.

I think the type of bike is more likely to be the limiting factor than
the location, but we will be based in Lyme Regis. Maybe hiring in
London and bring them down on the train?
