In which case just add supermarket carrier, effective cost zero, every
time it looks like the Monsoon season is back on, and think about the
rear pockets on the pannier and how that doesn't fit well with welded
seam construction, itself probably something to do with Ortlieb panniers
not having pockets except via faffing with detachable ones...

And yes, I do know about how good Ortliebs are, since I run a pair of
Rear Roller Pluses on the 'bent and MTB, and I'm not that bothered about
the Carradice pannier on the Brom. But if you are, why not ask
Carradice if they'll do you one in Cotton Duck? They've got the
patterns and the material, after all...

And they're Jolly Helpful Chaps too, who don't charge the earth for
custom work IME.

I've been impressed in the past with the reworking they did on my old
Carraduras to upgrade them to a better (and more recent) fixing system.
My Overlanders just needed a hook change to move to C-system locking
hooks, which are nice even if not quite as nice as Ortlieb's hooks.

My only problem with Carradice is their panniers max out at 11mm racks,
and the Streetmachine has (very unusually) 12mm. Booh. Consequently my
Carradice panniers now ride on a pal's Horizon, where they continue to
do good day to day work after over 15 years with no structural problems
beyond elastics and buckles being replaced over time.
