perhaps some of the the less wide models they've got? I've got a road
bike and enjoy doing long group rides as well as shorter triathlons, so
was just wondering if anyone else had a set up like this?chris freeman
I'm using a Brooks saddle on a road bike I use for long rides and
triathlons. I should say, though, that I don't have aerobars yet--don't
know how that would affect the comfort. By the way, what is a rough
figure for the improvement to be expected from aerobars?
I tried several modern women's saddles which I couldn't stand either
because they were too narrow for my sit bones or because under the
padding they were like rocks. A Brooks is hard on the surface but gives
a little when you hit a bump. I love it--I can ride 7 or 8 hours
without being saddle sore.
The issue I worried about is that you are supposed to protect Brooks
saddles from getting wet. I thought about putting a plastic bag over
it, but finally just gave it a fresh coat of their special leather
dressing the day before my triathlon. It was fine--the leather didn't
look like it got soaked at all. But if you want to bike in your wet
swim clothes frequently in practice that might cause the saddle problems.
