No real data to support this but I was taught.

aluminum AS for steel to steel
copper steel to alu... steel to ti
teflon or copper and prayer (emphasis on prayer) for ti -alu / ti - mag

this "makes" intuitive sense which off course has absolutely no bearing
on the truth of it-
as placing a different material between like materials or materials
with an affinity for trading electrons like Al-Fe/steel seems to give
that electron trade protection.
i assume the auto industry produces more Al couplers now than several
years ago.
however, copper reduces in the environment faster than Al corrodes?

First guy was H-S shop..
Second was the mechanic working in the garage i worked at through H-S
did the steel to steel alu anti sieze ... and steel to alu copper AS
(Volvo and rover both required copper be used on their alu parts and
would give you warrenty grief it wasn't used)

that pretty much became copper for everything, why buy two greases..

years later I worked at an aerospace place for a few years and copper
or teflon was spec.'d for everything I remember except Ti/Mag which was
teflon only ... prayer was optional but recomended.

If I remember the theory as explained correctly the material in the
grease had to be more easily coroded than either of the two materials
you were joining... Mag was separte because almost nothing corrodes
easier..

Been a long time .. I just use copper for everything and have no
problems..

with copper n-s in hand- the reason for the napa trip-I spent a few
moments ogleing the teflon wondering if I could get a reality upgrade
covering the BB 3s tapered spindle with teflon but wandered off after
going thru the waterproofing component.
does teflon adhere to a steel then an aluminum crank surface? seems
dubious.
