I have no idea where they came up with it, but The Times (of London)
seems to have decided the unicycle collective noun question for
    itself:

THE BIG CHILL;IN THE BUSINESS OF STRESS MANAGEMENT, MORE CAN BE LESS

Fancy a triple-shot mochaccino and a dash across the M1 at rush hour?
Perhaps a day of conspicuous cross-dressing at the office would suit Sir
better? Or *a brace of unicycles* for the school run. No? A bungee jump?
A date with Kate? Diving with sharks?

Once I was young and impulsive, I wore every conceivable pin
Even went to the socialist meetings, learned all the old union hymns
But I've grown older and wiser, and that's why I'm turning you in
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal
