Well, the '02 Prologue was in Luxembourg. Lots of Germans there,
apparently (from my small sample). To expand on my comment, Virenque's
reception is a comment on a certain sort of public acceptance of
doping. As Kurgan G. has noted around here, sports are a relflection of
the (drug) culture we live in.
Reading about B. Bond's return, I saw "booed when he walked to the
plate, cheered when he hit a home run".
I like the NASCAR method (excuse the repetition): Catch them, fine
them, maybe dock some points, maybe put on probation, go to the next
race. Never: "Caught with an illegal carburetor, banned for two
years". They do a much smarter job of running their show IMHO. --D-y
