The reason that I ask this is that my hardhat at work has an expiry date stamped on it. This is because exposure to UV and the elements in general reduces its usefulness and it must be replaced after 4 or 5 years. However, I see no such date on my cycle helmet despite it being exposed to the same potential deterioration and thus lifespan.
