  1. Just back last Monday from a fantastic month long trek/climb in the Everest
region of Nepal. Got into the mountains without any hassle from the
troubles, and all finished on our return to Kathmandu. The trip took us
from Lukla, via Namche Bazar to Gokyo lakes where we summited Gokyo Ri (5360
metres) and The Nameless Tower Peak (5500 metres). Crossed over the Cho la
pass at 5420 metres, then attempted (I failed) Lobuche East at 6119 metres.
Another pass, the Kongma La at 5400 metres brought us to the foot of Pokalde
rising to 5800 metres. Great climb, then on to the ultimate peak ... Island
Peak at 6189. Unfortunately a rather large dump of snow while at High Camp
(5700 metres) prevented us from reaching the summit. Still, what a
fantastic month, courtesy of KE Adventure in Keswick. A selection of photos
in a Slideshow is on my website, address below.

Oh! ..... back on the South Downs today in the Meon Valley. Not quite as
high as my last trip ........ but still fun walking. Photos also uploaded
    from today's walk.

    Have fun.
