Yes, it is known to have a small effect to aid weight loss at the
beginning that levels off, but in the end weight is lost when fewer
calories are eaten over the long term.

Do you consider this a normal phenomena . Does Metformin
have any affect on hypertension ?

Metformin is known to have an appetite suppressive effect, at least for
some folks, although at variable dosages (higher dosages usually
eventually result in some appetite suppression, but that dose is
varible individual to individual).
Weight loss can have a beneficial effect on hypertension, but, AFAIK,
metformin does not have any direct effect on hypertension.

In most studies, metformin has a beneficial effect on lipid profile,
with decreased LDL, improved TG/HDL levels. HDL has been reported to
be either non-significantly changed or slightly increased.
