I'll argue for trying Brooks again, but with a little additional info.
If you are riding in a fairly upright position (the bar tops level with
or a little higher than your saddle) then try a Brooks B17. If your
bar tops are below the saddle, consider something shaped appropriately,
like a B17N or a Swift. I'm riding a Swift these days, and it is THE
most comfortable saddle I've ever used. 500+ miles/week with no need
for Bag Balm, etc.
One other thing about Brooks saddles--you need a seatpost with lots of
setback to reach a comfortable position. www.wallbike.com gives you a
