Friends, fellow employees, fellow students.
They don't have to be from your area -- write or email your friends,
co-workers, etc. from where you used to live. Write all your relatives from
out of town. Put something in the church bulletin.
When I did the Big Climb
(http://www.active.com/donations/campaign_public.cfm?key=cpetersky), I can
see that 3 donors were family, 8 were from work, 4 were from my synagogue, 3
were friends of mine who are friends with the person I did the Climb for,
and 3 were various friends that I more or less randomly emailed. The oddest
one on the list was there because I found his jacket on the the way to work.
He posted to our local commuter board that he lost his jacket shortly after
I found one. When I returned it to him, he wanted to reward me with a free
cup of coffee down at Starbucks -- I suggested as an alternative a small
pledge to the cause, which he gladly did. This worked out great!
