Not really, on either account. Concerns, and "solutions" have been raised
for years on end. Most based on little if any science. This article
refers to exactly 1 new study, but trots out Goldstein's articles from
years ago as if they were hot news.
These studies are as much about promoting their new saddles as they are
about addressing any problem.

and just thought that that was part of biking.

complaining of reduced sexual function or impotency? I don't, and I'm
not.
No, but then again, it's not something one talks about -- or even asks.
Hell, I don't even wear spandex!
Maybe your not wearing bike shorts is the problem.

Speaking of which...how come no mention is made of padded shorts and
such?
We as a society are eager to read about the dangers of just about
anything. We then spend big bucks ($200+ for the saddle the latest study
claimed was so much better -- better than what was not specified) to fix
problems we don't have.
Sure, some people get numb from riding. Some few may even get impotent.
But, most do something about it. It's as often a poorly-fitting bicycle
as it is a non-slotted saddle. Get a new saddle, even that fancy weird
one they advertised in the study (yes, advertised -- that's what it's
about, selling a product). If you want to figuratively continue
sitting on that tack, fine, but don't complain about it.
