Re: Plantar Fasciitis and Biking

I've had trouble with plantar fasciitis on the left for a couple of
years; it comes and goes, mostly with hiking. This last summer I parked
the car and commuted on a bike, 17 miles a day 5 days/week for ~3
months. All that exercise didn't help the fasciitis, but then it didn't
hurt either; if anything the weight loss (20 lbs) helped a bit, I
think. I say go for it, and you'll find out.

I experienced this condition when I first started logging a lot of
miles but was still wearing tennis shoes. Cycling shoes definitely
helped but I got complete relief when my chiroprator applied ultrasound
therapy. After about 3 treatments I have not had any additional
problems in more than 6 years. I can wear any type of shoes and don't
mess with orthotics anymore.
