I find a couple tubes a year discarded by the side of the road or trail.
Every one so has required patching a small easy to find puncture. Lazy

Yeah, but if they're tri-geek tubes aren't they 650's in the 12-16mm width?

The thing I hate about 'em is you can't get them to stop using tri-bars
in a pace line.

Nah, I hardly ever see anyone riding 650's out here, it's all been 700c
19-25 tubes. Of course, now I'm building up a 650A [1] aluminum wheels
for my mother. I really don't want my mom riding wet steel wheels out
on the roads.

One of my coworkers is continuing her evolution from triathlete to
commuter/roadie. I've sold her on the Marathon Plus tires and fenders.
Of course now she's looking at the clearance on the rest of our bikes
and thinking about getting a cyclocross style bike.

I don't know if I'll be able to ween her off the aerobars.

The sure-to-come-collision usually stops 'em, at least for the rest of
that particular ride. :-(

What! There was plenty of use left on that tube! You know, you don't
get tubes like that anymore these days. All shoddy construction and
sticky valve stems. Why back in *my day* we patched the same tubes
until you could feel the bumps realigning your chakras. It was better
than a trip to a back cracker!
