I did Striding Edge once in winter conditions and at one point came to a
section where the snow crest had a curious uniform semi circular shape.
It took some time for the fact to sink in that those in front had not
waltzed gaily along but straddled it au cheval. I did likewise.

I can't recall that particular section but as Pete suggests winter makes
a considerable difference to many routes.
A group of us were doing Beinn Alligin one Easter (plastered with poor
snow) and when we got to the bit on the Horns were you have to descend I
insisted on a top rope which was reluctantly provided by a friend (?)
who didn't take a belay and ran the rope through his hands as I climbed
down fumbling for invisible holds. First and only time I ever climbed
steep rock in crampons. Having got over that difficulty I was left to
coil the rope as the rest of the team rushed off ahead. Following behind
there was one little notch were I very nearly failed to get up.
