'twas the latter, as I recall. Get about a fifth of a turn of the
chainring before the whole thing jams up and the offending minipikey
falls on its head with a satisfying thud. At least, that was how Pat
explained it :-)

Either; spare bit is likely to unship the chain and bounce genitals on
the top top as legs go into road runner mode, whilst latter will just
stop in < 1/2 a rev.

Admittedly won't stop the "pick it up and carry" brigade, but casual
ride-offs are blocked - although it's sometimes fun to watch the 'can
I have a go' realise their shins are seriously at risk once rolling.

Whichever way, a scrote being damaged evokes little concern.
