Look at the low end Shimano moutain biking shoes. There's even a shoe
that looks like a sneaker that has a cutout for the SPD clipless pedals
I wouldn't ride those shoes on a clipless pedal without any kind of
platform (like the Shimano M520) in these (they're really not stiff
enough, IMO). I'd go with something like this:
This is a flip-flop pedal, with a sneaker-type platform on one side and
a clipless pedal on the other.
Although I would seriously think about the 424 instead
This one is symmetrical, so you don't have to really look when you put
your foot down. You can use a sneaker on both sides of this pedal or a
cleated shoe.
That's all if you want to go clipless. You can use that shimano shoe on
the top of this post to just walk around and use on platform pedals.
