I'm not sure the "who" or "what" you are referring to by "most are too
cowardly to address that issue."
Regarding the girl, in many states, it is 'almost' or 'nearly' or down-
right impossible to get a weapons permit.
I have known some who will carry a gun without a permit, while
condemning others who support banning guns.
The gun & crime & protection issue is almost too hot of an issue (for
most) to discuss even with relatives or friends. Some people speak
out, others are a bit timid, if that is what you mean.
