Yeah, I've been wanting a mirror. I suppose this is some really good
motivation to get one.
Around here law on the road doesn't seem to be enforced much for cars
and trucks, so I doubt they'd take the time to hassle a cyclist for
going against the grain. So my plain is probably going to be to get a
mirror and ride with the traffic when speeds are low, and against when
speeds are high. Of course, that's a tough call since even where 30MPH
is posted some go tearing through at about 60MPH.
I'm lucky it happened where it did. I had room to get into the grass
before I got hit. About thirty feet ahead was an overpass where I had a
narrower shoulder and a squat guardrail. Probably could have thrown me
right off the bridge from up there.
The mark isn't too bad now, just has one little spot that's oozy and
the rest is only a little red and fading pretty fast.
