Maybe mr ric-stern can help me, I am interested in purchasing a virtual reality trainer, now I wouldn't know who else to ask on such a topic except you, but if there is anyone out there that can tell me weather this would be a good method of training Since the weather is bobbins here and has been since well before october and i have had to put off those longer rides and try to opt for shorter faster rides hoping that I won't get ill for the sake of a few hours in the cold the wind and the rain.

Anyhow could someone have a look at the link that follows and maybe offer me a little advice http://www.tacx.nl/phpbb2/index.php, I am new to this and used to riding with speedo and HRM on the roads, this is a totally new method of training for me, so any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Chris

i recommend the Cycle-Ops/Power Tap range of trainers. see http://www.power-tap.com/products/electronictrainer+.htm for the VR system - which i use.

also, this. Not VR but looks very nice http://www.power-tap.com/products/pro300pt.htm

let me know if you have any questions on the units.

in the meantime i hope the weather improves!

Have you or any of your clients had any experience with these?

http://www.cardgirus.com/english.htm

I read a review of one of their models on cyclingnews.com a while back and they looked absolutely awesome.....pricey, though.

Yes, I do have one. I wrote a pretty detailed review which can be found here:

http://www.bicyclewattage.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3

I wrote that review a few years ago and I'm still pretty happy with the device. I use it probably around 75 hrs/year over winter. I'm a little suspicious that the power reading might be a bit low (perhaps around 10w or so) but it might be psychological too.

If you have any specific questions which aren't answered in the review I wrote, feel free to ask.
