Howdy.I own a set of tubular wheels with Campy Record hubs, these are the old style with freewheel not cassete. Regina freewheel is on it right now. Can I put a single speed cog on the this hub? Thanks!

Yes -- presuming your hub has ENGLISH threads (1.37x24) then you can use a BMX single-speed freewheel.

If you want to use a TRACK cog, then you will want to change to a solid axle. You can secure the cog using a BB lockring.

You will want to center the hub & redish the rim.

If you want to use a track cog, buy a track hub. Loctite, a bb lockring and rotafixing can't substitute a reverse threaded lockring. It is very unsafe to go fixed on a freewheel thread.

And yes you can use a single freewheel. IIRC Italian threading is so close to English that it will work with either, but you risk damaging Italian threads with an English freewheel over time.

I would really hate to mess these wheels up. Sounds like I need to get single speed specific hubs, thanks for the info.
