I just browsed thru the FAQ have not seen any links - does anybody

to have collection of links to reliable Internet vendors selling
parts ?

Like Andy said- not all vendors carry everything on the planet- not by
a long shot. Since you asked, here's a couple of my favorites:
http://harriscyclery.net/page.cfm?PageID=49 The QBP catalog- just
about everything new.
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/index.html Harris Cyclery, home of
the late, great Sheldon Brown. Storehouse of weird stuff you never
knew you needed.
http://www.bikepartsusa.com/ Bike Parts USA is good for finding very
cheap parts, if that's what floats your boat.
http://www.biketoolsetc.com/ Bike Tools Etc. has some oddball stuff,
and they've been very easy to work with.
http://www.universalcycles.com/ Universal Cycles has done well by me-
but then they're 5 minutes from work so I don't have to pay shipping.
I also get to visit their cats- they have 5 or 6 I think.

Hey, Caveat Emptor. I'm just glad Nashbar is still around as a somwhat
independent entity (if you get my drift). I've been buying from them
since the '70s when they were Bike Warehouse. They're about the only
large online bike part dealer that hasn't forsaken real world cyclists
in favor of the boutique crowd.

Just yesterday I placed a small order for a $1.99 water bottle cage,
and a $14.95 polypro under shirt. No $500 Assos jackets at Nasbar!

I like Lickbike too. I've found a lot of stuff there that Nashbar
doesn't carry, such as one of the only decent trunk bags (no Velcro),
the Lone Peak Deluxe (actually the only trunk bag on their web site).
They also have the Saris tandem rack, one of the only tandem racks where
both wheels remain on the bicycle. It took some creative engineering for
me to adapt it to my Thule crossbars, but it works wonderfully.

Here's a copy of mail-order sources from my browser's bookmark file. I
can't vouch for the reliability of most of them. Since I've been
collecting these links for years and have never garbage collected,
some may not even be in business any longer. ;-)

hey CAVEAT EVERETT.

Nashbar screws me every time I buy there. I buy on 30% discount.
next day Nashbar sells for 40% discount

if you could afford a $500 jacket for the 80' ketch moored at St
Barts....

Obviously you should always wait one more day before buying! :)

Another way they've annoyed me is when my total order goes above some
shipping increase threshold, but an item is out of stock (and can't be
backordered because it's a close out item) and my total order goes
below the threshold, they don't automatically lower the shipping back
down along with it.

I've had a few good dealings with Lickbike. On one multiple order
item though, one small thing was out of stock and they held the entire
order indefinitely without notifying me to see what I wanted to do. I
had to contact them to find out why my stuff hadn't received my parts.

Another place I've had similar issues with is JensonUSA. I looked at
my order history with them and more often than not I end up canceling
the order because something was out of stock and there was no real
indication from them of when or if they would ever get the item in,
and I usually end up having to contact them to find out what the heck
is going on.

I'm usually OK with getting only part of a multi-item order, but I
guess with JensonUSA, things I've ordered have usually involved
multiple, related items where missing one piece makes the rest of the
shipment useless to me (most recently a fork, a crown race and a star
nut, with the crown race being back ordered for who knows how long).

obviuoulsy if one waits, prices go up.

Often, Nbar does not do anything clerical for you, the buyer must
email or phone if only for pointing out Nbar's resident baboon
overbilled for $25 or shipped 26" not 700c or BAU right?
Nashbar is very correct and polite for corrections.
If you don't get it right at Nbar that's your problem.
Every time I bought from Harris, the mob sent a goon to vandalize my
bike. A Yalee?
Universal and Jenson are considerate.

and let us snot forget the bicycle rack site, if someone knows that
