The media portrayed Kamen as an altruistic inventor out to better the world. I now realize he's just
trying to get rich with the next Rollerblade. When I heard that his company was lobbying
legislatures to create a market for his product on existing recreational trails I really saw red. We
need electric vehicles taking over the ROADs, not the bicycle and pedestrian paths.
I've seen the Segway in use at Disney World. It's very clever and very cool and not the solution to
any of our problems.
