The ride up Hautacam, in '94? flat stages before then, flat all the way
up till the climb. Both Rominger and Chiapucci were in trouble early,
Indurain goes. Only Luc Leblanc could stay w/ Indurain and Leblanc wins
the stage. Indurain wins the TdF.


Looking at the GC, it's hard to envision how anyone can beat LANCE
unless he has a run of very bad luck. He's riding well, he has the best
team and his principal rivals rode like **** today.

Do not write off Basso, the guy is young, shown promise in the past, and
can climb. He's definitely LA's main competitor now. If he has a
good day, he could put a minute or two on any of the GC contenders,
including LA.

That's a bit presumptive about him and a bit dismissive of the other
contenders after only one hard mountain stage. This was just a warmup
for tomorrow and other stages.
