  1. I have an old Shimano 600 long-cage rear derailleur with an adapter claw. Could I use this
    derailleur on a frame that has a hanger, just by removing the claw? This will be friction shifting
    only, so indexing isn't an issue. Also, there will be no "B" tension adjustment. I'm not against
    installing a more modern RD, just wanted to stay somewhat "period correct".
