Removing steerer extender (Zoom heads up)

I want to remove a zoom heads up steerer extender - how do I do it? It doesn't seem to budge if I unscrew the bolt. There is a little hole in the back, what is that? One site says that to put it on a bike you need to 'set bearing preload' before tightening....


Any ideas?

Remove the top vertical bolt and cap. Loosen the bottom horizontal bolt(s). Should slide up and off after that.

Thanks Scotty. From what you say it seems I just need to twist harder. Will give it a shot (or get a muscular housemate involved).
