iirc, nitrogen is used initially because it isn't as soluble in oil as plain air. once you pump up
the shock for the first time, you start to dilute the nitrogen and that may have a small effect on
performance, but the "squishing" is more to do with worn seals and valves than "mixing".

Can't I access this part of the shock and add the right weight oil and air instead of nitrogen ?
oil & air are not enough to do the job. you need to replace the worn seals, valves, springs, etc.
