Hi
I have a bit of a problem replacing the rear mech cable on an Ultegra shifter. The old cable broke near the end that's in the shifter so it's stopping the mechanism rotating enough for me to get the head of the old cable out and the new one in. I tried stripping it down a bit but there are lots of small parts! Any tips on how I can rotate the mechanism and get the old cable end out?
TIA
Phil

I've had to do this a couple times, and the best advice I can give is to poke and jiggle until you can shift into the straight-through (smallest cog) position, then poke and jiggle some more until you can get a tool on the cable head. A pick with a hooked tip and needle-nose pliers work for this. Once you get a tool on the head, just pull. I've never had enough cable left in there to give too much resistance or cause damage.
