Subject: Request for Burnt Flour Gravy Recipe
Every Thanksgiving, my Swedish Mother made the best gravy in the world. It
started with turkey drippings and she made it while the bird rested. She
transferred the drippings to a sauce pan, constantly whisked in flour, and
"burned" it over a high heat. I think I remember some dark brown liquid
from a little bottle she added that looked like ink to me. I think it was
a form of gravy maker coloring? I'm sure she added other herbs/spices, but
she took the recipe with her to the grave. Any help with this one?
