The Adaptive Computation Group at the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of
Coimbra (ACG-CISUC) is seeking for two PhD candidates or two research positions providing supporting

are funded by an EU 6th Framework IST Programme R&D Integrated Project which is starting.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION TOPICS: The general research topics are digital signal, body sound processing,
ECG analysis and early cardiac dysfunction diagnosis. An indicative list of possible research topics
is as following:
- Blind source separation
- Sound segmentation
- Feature extraction using advanced signal processing
- Data Mining and computational learning
REQUIREMENTS:
- M.Sc. or 5/4 year B.Sc. preferably in Informatics, Applied Mathematics and Electrical Engineering
- research experience in one of the above fields
- Good programming skills in C, C++ and Matlab
- Good knowledge of English;
Appointments can be extended for 3 years. Proven research experience in one of the above mentioned
fields, good knowledge of English and skilled in programming as well as a strong commitment in
academic research are highly desired.
