a few weeks ago i saw a chainring with red (enamel?) detailing. it looked like something you might see on a '50's or '60's restoration project. i don't remember if the cranks had detailing or not. unfortunately, i didn't immediately take a close look, and the bike was gone by the time i got back. i've been looking around on the net, but without luck. any leads?

Difficult to say what you saw but TA Specialities make anodised chainrings in both 130 & 135 BCD patterns if you are looking for rings yourself. Lots of UK shops sell them.
