Hello

I'm new here, and a complete bike novice. I'm looking at buying a reliable
hybrid bike for my 11yo daughter in the $400-ish price range. Most bikes
I've seen feature the Shimano Revo shifters (twist-grip). A friend tells me
to avoid these like the plague as they sieze-up. Can anyone confirm this?

So far we've looked at:
- Gitane Escape;
- Malvern Star Bayside;
- Raleigh C700; and
- Giant Cypress SE and Elwood SE
Any recommendations? We're in Tassie, by the way. Any advice on brands and
components would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

My g/f is happy with her Apollo hybrid and also the Giant "Option"
hybrid (before it was nicked from our locked garage).

P.S. I suggest you "munge" your email address if you don't want to get
s***loads of spam. Pronto, before the bots get it. Unless you really
want Viagra, a bigger penis, or to make a profit on eBay.

Thanks for the tip - just one question - what is a "munge"?!?!?! I was
wondering why we're getting so much spam......!!

It means changing your email address (the one that's displayed in
newsgroups, anyway) so that it's invalid - see mine above (or wherever
your newsreader shows it). Make it obvious either in your signature or
the address itself how genuine repliers can reach you.

I suggest you DO IT NOW!
