CPSC, Reynolds Announce Voluntary Recall of Reynolds UL fork

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following
voluntary recall in cooperation with MacLean Quality Composites, D.B.A.
Reynolds Cycling, located in West Jordan, Utah. Consumers should stop
using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Hazard:

The bonding agent between aluminum dropouts/fork tips and composite fork
legs may loosen under certain extreme conditions. The loosened bond may
cause separation between the dropouts/fork tips and fork legs that could
cause the wheel to come loose from the fork while riding.

This is a voluntary recall. There have been no reported injuries related
to loosened dropouts.

Recall Description:

The recall involves only the Reynolds UL fork, models 1.1.25” x 700c x
43mm and 1.1.25” x 700c x 50mm. All stock Reynolds UL branded forks have
clear gloss painted carbon legs showing dark brown carbon weave pattern,
and polished aluminum dropouts. Identifying decals include: top insignia
with capital letter “R”, in blue font, above capital letters “UL”, in
silver font, and “REYNOLDS” logo, in white font, on both legs of the fork.

Other graphics include a two color diagonal stripe comprised of both
grey and silver, located approximately at the mid-section of both fork
legs; as well as a vertical logo “REYNOLDS”, in white font at the lower
portion of the fork legs.

In some cases UL forks were painted with a different paint scheme.
Reynolds UL forks were sold to custom frame builders as listed below.
Frame builders may have shipped UL forks with stock Reynolds graphics or
painted similar to custom-built bicycle frames, Custom painted UL forks
may include partial or none of the stock Reynolds UL graphics.

Serial Number Range: 09100 - 10404

No other Reynolds model forks are affected. The fork must be removed
from the frame to see the serial number decal located on the steer tube.

from 8/06 through present. Suggested retail price on the UL fork was
approximately $499.99. These forks (some painted) were also included as
