I am heading to Aspen for Labor Day weekend and was wondering if I should bring my road bike or mtn bike? I will have about 3 - 4 hours a of riding time per day. I am from So Cal and will only be able to fly one bike out there. Here are a few questions that come to mind:
Road: (Plan on riding 50 - 75 miles a day)
Are the roads nice?
Are there bike lanes or at least decent sized "shoulders" on the road?
Is it mostly hills/mtns?
Are there less traveled roads to take?
Mtn: (Prefer to do cross country type, riding around, singletrack)
Are there some good singetrack around the mountains - or is it primarily at the resorts?
Also, is there a good local shop to contact or for any on site maintenance?
Thanks!
