im new to this, ive never had a road bike, only mountain biked a bunch, figured maybe road biking would be funner than the old treadmill at the gym.

so i bought a 2008 cannondale slice 3, and i need wheels for it, im 200lb, so im obvioulsy not diving into a triathalon or anything difficult like that, would just like to run around town and see how i like it, who knows maybe ill take it more seriously.

so im looking for a wheel that will suit my purpose and be a good wheel for the bike if and when i decide to sell it.

ideas?

thanks.

What happened to the wheels which came with the bike?

Mavic Aksiums (sp?) are a good choice. Entry level racing wheelset with decent hubs. They are considered to be a bit on the heavy side and therefore a good sturdy wheel as well.

I am sure there are loads of other choices but I am familiar with those wheels and find them to be a decent quality choice.

Perhaps you may wish to let us know what kind of budget you are looking at.

Oh and plenty of people that are 200 lbs do triathlons. Don't sell yourself short. Only a handful of people actually win those events, the rest of us have a blast competing and finishing.

Sorry to hear about the theft ...

You can find 'replacement' 700c wheelsets at (not necessarily in this order, and there are certainly other potential sources):
EBAY
COLORADO CYCLIST
NASHBAR
I would look for a set of "regular" 32h wheel with Ultegra hubs & (probably) MAVIC rims -- your cost will be between $100-to-$400 depending on the condition & bidding activity if you get the wheelset from eBay.

Let your budget be your guide.
