Road racing categories cat5 vs. jr. races

Hello,
I think this is the right place to put this post, if not sorry.

Anyways, I am 17 and getting a cycling license. Since I am 17 I will have a junior license. Does that mean I can only compete in the Jr. competitions or can I also race in Cat5 races ? Please let me know.

You can also race senior races, but you'll have to use your junior gearing. Once you have 10 Cat 5 races you can upgrade to Cat 4 and so on, as far as your ability takes you.

ok thanks, also when getting a license do I get one from USCA, USCF, or since I live in California CBR? Does it matter where I get it from?
