hi guys, assuming that it fits on the mtb otherwise (in terms of clamp size and position and so on), is there any reason not to mount a road-specific stem on an mtb (e.g. stiffness, durability etc.) ? do some of you use road-specific stems in your mtb's ?

thanx
They are not the same. Road stems are 26mm diameter, mtb is 25.4mm. Doesn't sound like much but you will likely damage the bars and hurt yourself in the process if you mix them. Road stems are usually more fragile as well. If you notice most tend to have less and smaller bolts at the bar clamp.
