road to hybrid conversion

I have a fuji 61cm road bike. I want a hybrid, but don't know if it's cost effective to convert rather than buy a hybrid. Any suggestions?

You can turn it into a flat bar,but what it cost depends on how you buy the parts and if you do it yourself.

I think I could handle tires, handle bars, seat, but i'm not sure I could istall the gears. How technical is it?
